The Lighthouse Team's role is to encourage, lead, and serve as a resource for teachers at Murdock in teaching our students the 7 Habits from The Leader In Me (LIM).
The Lighthouse team has established “big rocks” based on teacher feedback. (For example, one of our “big rocks” include improving our school environment with more visible LIM signs/leadership quotes.)
Classroom and Family Lighthouse Status is being encouraged school-wide. Families that complete the activities relating to each of the 7 habits will be recognized with a certificate on the morning news and can send in a picture for the display wall. Teachers are working with their students to complete specified tasks to earn classroom lighthouse status.
Teacher resource folders have been organized on the staff drive to share LIM lessons and activities that go with each habit.
Grade Level Curriculum Nights continue to incorporate LIM with students displaying leadership and teaching the habits to families.
The Lighthouse team is planning a Leader-in-Me pep-rally on Read-Across-America day, March 2nd. Students will have the opportunity to dress as their favorite book character and share what habit their character shows most in the book.
Applications for a student lighthouse team will be released this spring to 4th and 5th grade students. More information coming soon.
