The Lighthouse Team

The Lighthouse Team's role is to encourage, lead, and serve as a resource for teachers at Murdock in teaching our students the 7 Habits from The Leader In Me (LIM).

Q2 Update

  • The Lighthouse team has established “big rocks” based on teacher feedback. (For example, one of our “big rocks” include improving our school environment with more visible LIM signs/leadership quotes.)
  • Classroom and Family Lighthouse Status is being encouraged school-wide. Families that complete the activities relating to each of the 7 habits will be recognized with a certificate on the morning news and can send in a picture for the display wall. Teachers are working with their students to complete specified tasks to earn classroom lighthouse status.
  • Teacher resource folders have been organized on the staff drive to share LIM lessons and activities that go with each habit.
  • Grade Level Curriculum Nights continue to incorporate LIM with students displaying leadership and teaching the habits to families.
  • The Lighthouse team is planning a Leader-in-Me pep-rally on Read-Across-America day, March 2nd. Students will have the opportunity to dress as their favorite book character and share what habit their character shows most in the book.
  • Applications for a student lighthouse team will be released this spring to 4th and 5th grade students. More information coming soon.
